DALLAS, May 31, 2013 – During its 64 th Annual Meeting & Clinical Symposia, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) will formally welcome Patricia Aronson, PhD, ATC, LPTA, and Cari Wood, ATC, to its board of directors. NATA’s convention will take place June 24-27 at the Mandalay Bay South Convention Center in Las Vegas. Aronson succeeds outgoing District 3 director Marty Baker, ATC; and Wood will replace outgoing District 10 director Russ Richardson, EdD, ATC.

David Saddler, who has served as interim executive director after the recent retirement of long-time Executive Director Eve Becker-Doyle, CAE, assumes the role effective immediately.

DALLAS, March 29, 2013 – As follow up to the 4 th Annual Youth Sports Safety Summit held earlier this year, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association continues to champion young athletes by launching the first-ever Safe Sports School award program. Created to recognize secondary schools around the country that provide safe environments for student athletes, the initiative reinforces the importance of providing the best level of care, injury prevention and treatment.

Washington, DC, February 21, 2013 – The Secondary School Student Athletes’ Bill of Rights was introduced as House Resolution 72 (H. Res. 72) into the U.S. House of Representatives on February 15, by Rep. Jim Gerlach (PA-6) and supported by the Youth Sports Safety Alliance. It was originally co-sponsored by Rep. Devin Nunes (CA-22).

WASHINGTON, February 6, 2013 – The Youth Sports Safety Alliance, composed of more than 100 organizations committed to keeping young athletes safe, launched the first-ever “ National Action Plan for Sports Safety ” to ensure comprehensive action to protect America’s student athletes. The Plan was finalized by those in attendance at the 4 th annual Youth Sports Safety Summit in Washington, DC yesterday. The Summit was convened by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
